Woolserge

Wool Serge for Acoustic Curtains, Acoustic Blinds, Sound Absorption – Flame-Retardant B1 C1

In TUCHLER’s wool serge, the weft yarn (threads running crosswise in the fabric) is made of pure new wool, ensuring the typical properties of virgin wool: excellent wrinkle recovery and top sound absorption values in its weight class. This makes wool serge ideal for use in acoustic blinds and acoustic curtains.

The warp yarn (threads running lengthwise in the fabric), which is embedded in the weave and not visible, is made of durable synthetic fiber, providing high dimensional stability – making it perfect for use in tall acoustic curtains and blinds designed for sound absorption.

Wool Serge “BS” or “EN”?

In some non-EU countries, wool is considered “inherently flame-retardant” by definition. British standards, in particular, support this view. However, such untreated wool fabrics do not meet DIN 4102 B1 or EN 13501 C / EN 13773 C1 standards. That’s why our range includes wool serge labeled “BS” for “British Standard,” which is untreated with flame retardants.
“EN” refers to wool serge treated with flame-retardant agents and certified according to EN fire safety standards.
