Environment & Sustainability at TUCHLER

Environment & Sustainability at TÜCHLER

Sustainability is an integral part of TÜCHLER’s corporate practices. Throughout our entire value chain, we focus on using resources responsibly, ensuring transparent supply chains, and continuously reducing our environmental impact.

Our environmental management particularly focuses on the areas of material use, supply chains, energy supply, packaging, recycling, and the traceability of our products.

Europäische Produktion und transparente Lieferketten

A key component of our environmental management is the careful selection of our production partners.

Well over 98% of our textiles are produced within the European Union.
Around 90% of our technical components also come from European manufacturing.
Individual components – particularly electric motors – are sourced internationally.
Overall, more than 98% of all products distributed by TÜCHLER originate from European production.

Manufacturing within the European Union ensures that our suppliers comply with strict European environmental, production, and social standards.

In addition, we regularly visit our most important suppliers in person. TÜCHLER’s management conducts on-site visits to production facilities approximately every two to three years at the latest in order to review production processes, material usage, and potential improvements in sustainability and resource efficiency directly with the manufacturers.

Sustainable Materials

ECOAL® Aluminium

For aluminium components, we increasingly use ECOAL aluminium.

ECOAL is an aluminium material made from recycled content with a significantly reduced CO₂ footprint. This material is already used in numerous products, including

curtain track systems
Kabuki drop systems
track-mounted curtain fabrics
as well as aluminium components of our stage platforms.

Additional product areas are gradually being converted to ECOAL.

Recycled Textiles

We are also working to continuously increase the use of recycled materials in our textiles.

In the large product category of stage molton fabrics, this has already been achieved: our main product is now available in a version containing recycled fibres. At the same time, we ensure that the use of recycled materials remains sensible in the long term. TÜCHLER therefore applies internal criteria when selecting suitable fabrics, also taking into account the future recyclability of the materials used.

Many recycling processes result in blended fibres that are difficult to recycle again or reintroduce into another material cycle. For this reason, when selecting materials we aim to keep future recycling pathways open wherever possible – for example in line with cradle-to-cradle approaches.

Our goal is both to increase the use of recycled materials and to ensure their long-term recyclability.

Transparency and Product Information

All TÜCHLER products are described in detail with regard to their material composition.
In addition, we clearly indicate on our website whether a product was manufactured within the European Union or outside the EU. This provides customers with a clear basis for decision-making and allows them to trace the origin of products at any time.

Traceability of Our Products

All products receive unique batch or serial numbers, allowing them to be traced back to the respective production batch at any time.

This traceability enables

  • rapid analysis in the event of complaints
  • transparent documentation of the supply chain
  • continuous improvement of product quality.

Energy and CO₂ Reduction

A significant portion of the electricity required at our company site in Vienna has been generated by our own photovoltaic system for more than ten years.
Any additional electricity required is sourced exclusively as certified electricity from renewable energy sources. As a result, the Vienna site is operated essentially CO₂-neutral.

Resource-Efficient Packaging

We also work continuously to improve our packaging. For example, we recently reduced the plastic content of our packaging tape by approximately 50% by using thinner tapes made from recycled material with the same strength.

Waste Separation and Recycling

TÜCHLER fully complies with all Austrian and European regulations regarding

  • waste separation
  • disposal
  • recycling.

The corresponding processes are clearly defined within our operational procedures and are regularly reviewed.

Continuous Improvement

Sustainability is an ongoing process. Our procedures are regularly reviewed and further developed, particularly in the areas of

  • supply chains
  • packaging
  • energy consumption
  • material use.

Outlook: Introduction of a Structured Environmental Management System

We are currently comprehensively modernising our company IT and implementing new digital and AI-supported processes to optimise our operations. This system transition is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

On this basis, we plan to introduce a structured environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 starting in 2027.
